Free Backpacks In Fallston On Sunday

FALLSTON, MD - Some retailers are helping kids get a boost on their back-to-school preparations, well before students in Harford County Public Schools return on Sept. 5.

This weekend, Verizon-authorized dealers TCC and Wireless Zone will help equip children through the annual backpack giveaway sponsored by TCC. One of the giveaway locations is on Belair Road in Fallston.

Children must be present at the event to receive backpacks filled with school supplies including glue, folders, pencils, a pencil box and paper. Stores participating in the giveaway will provide 220 backpacks on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

According to the National Retail Federation, 27 percent of parents start shopping two months before the school year begins. Each household is expected to spend $687.72 on back-to-school shopping.

“We are proud to help our local families prepare for the upcoming school year by taking some of the financial burden off their shoulders," Scott Moorehead, CEO of TCC and Wireless Zone's parent company (Round Room), said in a statement about TCC's fifth annual backpack giveaway event.

The backpack giveaway will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, at TCC in Fallston, 2316-C Bel Air Road. See all stores participating in the backpack giveaway.
