Humane Society Of Harford County Waives Fees For A Day
The Humane Society of Harford County is hosting a huge adoption drive on Saturday, with adoption fees waived.

FALLSTON, MD — The Humane Society of Harford County is one of more than 900 shelters that will be waiving adoption fees on Saturday, Aug. 18. They are participating in Clear the Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption drive sponsored by NBC in which shelters waive fees to help animals find their forever homes.
"Almost 3,500 animals enter our shelter every year, including cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs, ferrets, birds, reptiles and farm animals," Cat Kelly, shelter operations director for the Humane Society of Harford County, said in statement. "We’re very excited to join shelters all across the country who will be opening their doors wide to find homes for thousands of pets this Saturday. We want to open for business on Sunday with very little or no animals left!"

More than 80,000 animals around the country were adopted last year during the Clear the Shelters event.
"Last year 26 animals from our shelter were placed into adoptive homes, including a rooster, a sun conure, a rabbit and a guinea pig," Jen Swanson, executive director at the Humane Society of Harford County, said in a statement. "Many more people came back to adopt in the days following Clear the Shelters, and even if they didn’t adopt, Clear the Shelters helped to increase foot traffic through the shelter and raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption.”
