Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company Recognized for Public Safety Initiative
Volunteers visited more than 200 homes in Edgewood to help prevent fires.

Harford County recently recognized the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company for its championing of public safety.
At the company’s most recent meeting, Director of Administration Mary Chance and Director of Harford County Emergency Operations Russell Strickland presented the firefighters with a citation for their participation in the Edgewood Public Safety Initiative.
As part of that effort, 36 members of Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company went door-to-door on various streets in Edgewood to make sure residents had smoke detectors, according to the fire company.

Between 10 a.m. and noon on April 26, the volunteers had visited 234 homes and installed 123 smoke alarms, the volunteers reported.
Funding for the smoke alarms came from the Harford County Department of Administration and Department of Emergency Services, according to the fire company.
