Woman Gravely Injured in Route 1 Rollover Crash: Harford Officials

The crash happened on US Route 1 near the Bel Air bypass.

A serious crash shut down US Route 1 at the Bel Air bypass for several hours Thursday after a vehicle overturned and injured the woman inside, according to the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

A medevac was called in to assist the victim, officials said at 2:52 p.m. on Thursday.

However, the request for a helicopter was cancelled and the association reported the woman ended up being taken to a local hospital by ambulance in grave condition.

Route 1 south was closed between the Bel Air bypass and MD Route 24 at 3:07 p.m., according to state transportation officials.

It reopened at 5:45 p.m., according to the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

Maryland State Police officials were investigating.
