69-Year-Old Man Hit By Car In Montgomery Village Has Died: Police

A Gaithersburg resident who was hit by a car on Feb. 10 has died, according to authorities.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 69-year-old man from Gaithersburg has died after getting hit by a car in Montgomery Village last month, according to authorities.

At about 5:47 p.m. on Feb. 10, Montgomery County Police were called to the intersection of Montgomery Village Avenue and Midcounty Highway for the report of a serious pedestrian-involved collision.

Tam Minh Pham, of the 19600 block of Club Lake Dr., was crossing Midcounty Highway when he was hit by a 2002 Ford Escape that was turning on to the road, police said. Pham died at a local hospital on Feb. 28.

The driver of the Ford Escape — 19-year-old Michael Dereje Habte, of Derwood — was not injured during the collision, police said.

"This collision remains under investigation. Investigators are attempting to determine if Pham was in a marked crosswalk at the time of this collision. Detectives are also attempting to determine the color of the traffic signals and the pedestrian signals at the intersection of Montgomery Village Avenue and Midcounty Highway at the time of this collision," police said.
