Enjoy a variety of activities and park visits to celebrate Park and Recreation Month in Gaithersburg.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Since 1985, America has celebrated July as Park and Recreation Month. The Gaithersburg mayor and city council will proclaim July as Parks and Recreation Month at their meeting July 5 and residents can attend a variety of activities all month long to celebrate.

“With this year’s theme, ‘We Rise Up for Parks and Recreation,’ Gaithersburg will be highlighting how our community is stronger, more vibrant and more resilient because of parks and recreation,” Carolyn Muller, director of the Gaithersburg Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture, said. “We will bring attention to how important it is to rise up and support parks and recreation staff and volunteers, as they rise up in service of equity, climate-readiness and overall health and well-being.”

In celebration of Park and Recreation Month, residents can participate in the Explore Gaithersburg! Park Passport in partnership with G-PARC. Download a Park Passport here or picking one up at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park. Then, visit as many of the more than 30 parks across Gaithersburg.
