Westland Drive, aiming to open in early 2027. The franchise plans programs for infants through kindergarteners and is partnering with Gaithersburg-based Comfort Cases to support children in foster care, highlighting its commitment to the local community.
2. MCPD Crime Summary for May 11 Includes Bus Stop Stabbing, Knife Assault, and Auto Thefts (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County Police are reporting several May 11 crimes that include incidents in both southern Gaithersburg and the 6th District, which covers much of the city. Alongside countywide thefts and stabbings, officers investigated an auto theft on Sioux Lane and a commercial robbery at a BP on Montgomery Village Avenue, where juveniles allegedly assaulted a clerk before one arrest was made.
3. Commanders Eye Stefon Diggs for Homecoming After Felony Charges Dropped (gridironheroics.com) — A Gaithersburg native, Stefon Diggs is now a free agent and could be headed to the Washington Commanders after being found not guilty on recent felony charges. 4. MCGEO and Police Union Demand Investigation of Human Resources Office (montgomeryperspective.com) — Gaithersburg is the dateline for a major push by two county unions demanding an independent investigation into Montgomery County’s Office of Human Resources and Occupational Medical Services over alleged disability discrimination and retaliation. They’re backing a whistleblower’s claims, filing a formal grievance, and seeking remedies like reinstatement, back pay, and corrected records for affected county workers, including police officers.
