GAITHERSBURG, MD — Pittsburgh-based Millie’s Ice Cream is slated to open its first Maryland location in Montgomery County, according to a report.
Millie’s plans to open the new store at 202 Ellington Blvd. in the space most recently occupied by The Crepe Shoppe before it relocated to 230 Crown Park Ave., The MoCoShow reported.
An opening date has not been announced.
Millie's Ice Cream was founded in 2014 by Chad and Lauren Townsend after Chad purchased an expensive ice cream maker with one condition — it had to be paid off by the end of summer, according to the company's website.
Over the last few years, Millie’s has opened scoop shop locations throughout the greater Pittsburgh area, launched a food truck, launched franchising, and began packaging pints to sell in local grocery stores.
Some of the flavors on the Millie's menu include triple cookie caramel, nutty pistachio and backyard S'mores.
