GAITHERSBURG, MD — Five people were hospitalized Thursday after a school bus and three vehicles collided in Gaithersburg.
The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said first responders were dispatched shortly after 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of Firstfield and Clopper roads.
At the scene, officials accounted for five injured individuals, all of whom were hospitalized. Of the five, one adult was transported to a local hospital as a trauma patient.
Officials have not detailed the extent of the injuries for the four others tied to the crash. It's also unclear whether there were any children aboard the bus at the time of the collision.
Photos from the scene show significant damage to two vehicles.
A total of three cars and one school bus were involved in the crash, according to the department.
Authorities have not detailed what may have prompted the incident. An investigation remains ongoing.
