GAITHERSBURG, MD — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Gaithersburg, according to Montgomery County police.
Officers from the department's 6th District and Gaithersburg city police responded to North Frederick Avenue and Professional Drive around 8:10 p.m. on Friday after receiving a call about a pedestrian struck.
When officers arrived, they found a man with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene following the crash, police said.
Montgomery County police's Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating. Authorities did not release the pedestrian's name pending notification of his family.
Police said additional information will be released when available.
