Located near I-270 in Gateway Center, the site will support the company's growing smart home and security products business, potentially bringing more installer traffic and economic activity to the area.

Parents allege 6-year-old girl seriously injured at Flower Hill Elementary School in Gaithersburg (dcnewsnow.com) β A Gaithersburg first-grader's parents say she suffered serious injuries after an alleged assault by another child in an unsupervised tunnel on the Flower Hill Elementary playground, prompting a police report and transfer request. They're questioning playground supervision and conflicting statements about security camera footage, while Montgomery County Public Schools and police have yet to publicly clarify what happened.

Luedtke Says Gaithersburg Community Meeting 'Failed to Meet Standards of Decency and Civility' (mocoshow.com) β Residents near Gaithersburg's Lost Knife Road corridor packed an August 27 safety meeting that Montgomery County Councilmember Dawn Luedtke later criticized as falling short on civility and public input. She pledged more open formats at future gatherings while addressing concerns over a recent police shooting, immigration enforcement, and ongoing violence around Lakeforest Transit Center and Cider Mill.

4. MARC Train to Launch Direct Weekday Service Between Montgomery County and Baltimore (mocoshow.com) β Gaithersburg commuters will soon get a faster, one-seat MARC train ride to Baltimore starting September 28, with travel times cut by nearly an hour. The new weekday service links Gaithersburg with Germantown, Rockville, Silver Spring, College Park, Laurel and Baltimore by adjusting existing Brunswick and Camden Line schedules without adding operating costs.

Germantown October Fest Returns Oct. 10 with Grammy-Nominate (moderatelymoco.com) β Gaithersburg-area residents are invited to Germantown October Fest on October 10, a free all-day celebration at Germantown Town Center featuring Grammy-nominated Nappy Roots, a children's carnival, artisan market, parade, and beer garden. Organized by the Gaithersburg Germantown Upcounty Chamber, the festival is recruiting vendors, parade groups, and volunteers and expects more than 6,000 attendees.
