MARC Train launches new direct service between Montgomery County, Baltimore (dcnewsnow.com) — Gaithersburg commuters will soon get a new one-seat MARC train ride to Baltimore starting September 28, with a morning train eastbound and an evening return. The new "Brunswick-Camden Run-Through" links Gaithersburg with Germantown, Rockville, Silver Spring, Laurel, and Baltimore, cutting travel times by up to an hour and giving residents a stronger alternative to driving on I-270 and I-95.
2. Virginia man in court after illegal car meet in Gaithersburg (fox5dc.com) — A Virginia man is set to stand trial Monday after police say they found a loaded handgun in his car during a massive illegal car meet at Gaithersburg's Metropolitan Grove MARC station. Officers broke up a gathering of more than 100 vehicles, and authorities say the case highlights how quickly these meets can turn dangerous for nearby Gaithersburg neighborhoods.
3. Homicide, Armed Robbery, and Vehicle Thefts Included in MCPD Weekend Summary (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County Police report several weekend crimes affecting Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, including two vehicle thefts near Quince Orchard Road and Vanderbilt Close and a residential burglary on Warbler Lane. The summary also details a homicide in Rockville, an armed robbery in Germantown, and multiple vehicle-related crimes countywide, underscoring ongoing safety concerns for local residents.
4. Gaithersburg Man Fatally Shot Following Confrontation Inside Restaurant (mocoshow.com) — A 33-year-old Gaithersburg resident, Nicholas Njuki, was fatally shot early Sunday after a confrontation that began inside Quincy's Potomac restaurant in Rockville. Police say the suspect later shot Njuki outside his vehicle and also fired at another person, and they're now asking anyone with information to share anonymous tips that could earn a reward.
