GAITHERSBURG, MD — Road closures extending over several days will continue to impact residents in Montgomery County as officials aim to upgrade railroad crossings.
The first of four related road closures, which will occur across Gaithersburg, started Monday and will continue through Thursday at Railroad Street in Washington Grove.

The work includes both rail replacement and resurfacing efforts on northbound tracks used by major freight railroad company CSX.
"During the closure period, no vehicles, bicycles, or pedestrians will be permitted to cross the railroad tracks. Detour routes will be posted. Travelers can expect heavy traffic during the closure period and are advised to seek alternate routes when possible," reads a release by the county.
