MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — The City of Gaithersburg canceled its planned Oktoberfest this weekend ahead of incoming storms.
"Due to impending weather, we are unfortunately canceling Oktoberfest," reads the city's Friday announcement.
"The safety of our guests, staff, and vendors is our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and hope to celebrate with you at a future event. Stay safe and dry!"

The festivities were expected to take place Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kentlands community and feature live entertainment, food and drink vendors and a mix of activities.
Officials did not list a potential makeup date.
The latest forecast released by the National Weather Service indicates Marylanders are in for a stormy weekend, specifically on Sunday.
