GAITHERSBURG, MD — Two crashes caused traffic delays during the morning commute in Gaithersburg on Tuesday, officials said.
Both crashes occurred off major roadways — Clopper Road and South Frederick Avenue (Route 355) — shortly after 8 a.m. and were located about 3 miles apart.
Pete Piringer, spokesperson for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said one collision involving two cars was reported at the intersection of Quince Orchard and Clopper roads.
Two individuals were being evaluated for non-life threatening injuries. The extent of those injuries was not detailed.
"Traffic is really messed up," Piringer wrote in an X post, urging drivers to avoid the area.
A second crash was reported less than 10 minutes away, at the intersection of S. Frederick Avenue and S. Westland Drive.
Piringer said the crash involved two vehicles and resulted in "some lanes blocked."
No details were released on possible injuries tied to the second collision.
