Becoming Creative Through Joining An Art Class

Artist and art educator Vian Shamounki Borchert talks about how one can become more creative through joining one of her Winter art classes.

It is 2018, what is your new year's resolution? Most people want to do
something that makes them feel good about themselves: be it work out,
eat healthy, and a big one on almost everyone's list is to be more
creative.

As an art educator and an art teacher, the best advice I can give a
person who is seeking to be more creative especially through the arts
is by taking a Fine art class. Invest in yourself and invest in an
art class! Montgomery County offers top art classes by acclaimed art
teachers such as myself. I teach in 2 art institutes: The Yellow Barn
Studio in Glen Echo Park where I teach a โ€œWatercolor Paintingโ€
class, and at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn where I teach 2 morning art
classes in โ€œAcrylic Paintingโ€ and in โ€œDrawingโ€.

I've been teaching art classes for over 10 years to adults from all walks
of life: from physicians to lawyers to home schooled high school
students to stay at home mothers to grandmothers, grandfathers to
basically everyone 18 years and older. I love providing my students
with the skills and the proper art education needed to help them grow
artistically and become more creative and more skilled in creating
works of art.

As a professional artist and art educator, I notice in our day and age
many people are hungry to become more creative, and they don't know
how to achieve that. We live in an age where social media has pretty
much taken over everyone's lives. Lots of people especially the
young artists, self taught artists and hobbyists think by logging
into intstagram or other social media discovering an artist they
like, and copying the works of that artist through any means such as:
tracing paper, projectors or other cheating tools one can in no time
become an artist. They are highly mistaken! They do not do themselves
a service by copying the artist's work which is a form of
intellectual theft. More important, they block their own vision and
creativity by copying someone else's vision and creativity. Copying
inhibits one to discover one's own special inner creativity and one's
own artistic style.

By taking an art class with me, I provide you with guidance and tools
needed for your own artistic growth. This will be accomplished
through step by step demos and in class projects to discover one's
own voice and vision in art.

I urge whoever is serious about their growth as a creative person to
not divert themselves in the route of copying from social media the
works that they fancy. It isn't in any way helpful for their growth.
On the contrary, it makes the copier more frustrated about their own
abilities and blocks and limits their creative development. Don't
struggle on your own, be open minded and be smart, and let your hand
and mind immerse in art the rightful way by taking art classes!

Take a basic Drawing class like the one I teach at the Gaithersburg Arts
Barn where you can lean the ABC's of drawing and shading with
wonderful mediums such as charcoal, colored pencils and pen &
ink.

When you get comfortable with your drawing skills and upon the teacher's
guided help, then one can move into the world of painting. The world
of painting such as Watercolor and Acrylic painting provide endless
possibilities from techniques and textures and to use of a good array
of colors.

Try both Watercolor painting and Acrylic Painting which are both very
different mediums. Yet, both offer so much rewards for an artist in
regards to their different properties and their look and feel.

To do art, you have to remember to be brave, and to go on forward with
your creativity.

But remember go on forward the proper way which is through joining art
classes. This is my advice to all who want to do art; yet still
haven't gotten to the point where they wish they could be at.
