UPDATE: Gaithersburg Teen Identified in Fatal Accident with SUV
Teen riding his bike on the sidewalk fell onto South Frederick Avenue (MD 355) in Gaithersburg and was fatally hit by an SUV, police say.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Authorities have released the name of a Gaithersburg teenager killed when his bicycle crash and he was hit a vehicle on South Frederick Avenue (MD 355) near Fulks Corner Avenue.
Montgomery County Police say the fatal accident happened about 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Frederick Avenue (MD 355).

Investigators say the bicyclist, identified as Santos Escobar-Villatoro, 16, of the 100 block of North Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg, died fom his injuries at the scene.
Escobar-Villatoro was traveling northbound on the sidewalk of the southbound side of South Frederick Avenue. He struck a commercial sign that had been placed on the sidewalk and fell into the travel lanes of South Frederick Avenue.

A 2004 Toyota Highlander driven by Atiana Shailise Sarkis, 18, of the 500 block of Reading Avenue in West Reading, PA, struck Escobar-Villatoro in the street, police say. Sarkis was not injured.
All lanes of South Frederick Avenue have reopened, authorities said.
The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation. Investigators ask anyone who witnessed the fatal collision to call police at 240-773- 6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
