Local Dance Studio Brings Broadway Holiday Magic — and Giving — to Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Step into the dazzling lights and festive streets of New York City this holiday season as Bella Ballet, a premier dance studio known for empowering youth through the arts, brings back its acclaimed production, The Holiday Spectacular, A Bella Ballet Original, for a second magical year.

Written and directed by Hope MacDonald, the studio’s founder and artistic director, this family-friendly production features original choreography by Hope MacDonald and Bella Ballet’s talented faculty. The show also highlights the spirit of Empower by Bella Ballet, the studio’s advanced division designed to cultivate confidence, leadership, and self-expression in older students.

Set against the iconic backdrop of New York City, The Holiday Spectacular follows Noelle, a wise and caring 12-year-old, who leads her sisters on a magical journey through the city’s

sparkling streets. Along the way, they discover that the true magic of the holidays lies in believing in themselves and spreading kindness to others.

Audiences will be transported through breathtaking choreography, dazzling costumes, and Broadway-caliber dance numbers — including a showstopping routine inspired by Radio City’s legendary holiday performances.

“This show is incredibly meaningful to me,” said Hope MacDonald, owner and director of Bella Ballet. “At Bella Ballet, we’ve built a community that thrives on empowerment, diversity, and giving back. The Holiday Spectacular embodies everything we love about the holidays — wonder, connection, and the power of community. It’s a celebration of the magic we all have inside us.”

Featuring show-stopping performances such as Snowflakes on Fifth Avenue, Underground Elves, and this year’s brand-new Peppermint Plaza Acro Poms, the production unites dancers from both Bella Ballet and Empower by Bella Ballet, ages 3 to 18, alongside the studio’s professional faculty.

As part of Bella Ballet’s continued commitment to giving back, audience members are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to benefit 4 Seasons Giving Tree. A portion of ticket proceeds will also support this local organization in helping families in need during the holiday season.
