Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month offers a meaningful opportunity for AAPI communities across the United States to showcase their traditions and engage in cultural exchange. Each May, people come together through cultural festivals, food fairs, and community events organized by various ethnic groups and organizations, highlighting the rich diversity and vibrant heritage of AAPI communities.
In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, The Asian American Health Initiative (AAHI), under the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, and the Office of Community Partnerships (OCP) will jointly host The 5th Annual Montgomery County AAPI Heritage Month Celebration on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown. As a long-standing community partner, the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC) will once again actively participate, working closely with organizers to promote the event and offer attendees an opportunity to experience traditional culture firsthand.
Last year's event drew over 3,000 attendees, and this year promises an even larger gathering as more community members come together to celebrate this vibrant cultural festival. The event will open with a heartwarming performance by a choir composed of Montgomery County students from elementary through high school. They will perform "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story, with nine student volunteers from CCACC also taking part in the performance.
The day's program will feature a wide range of multicultural exhibits representing diverse ethnic traditions. CCACC Community Services will host an interactive booth, providing visitors with an engaging way to learn more about community programs and resources. On stage, audiences can enjoy a variety of traditional performances from across Asia, including folk dances, musical performances, martial arts demonstrations, and a traditional costume fashion show.
A health fair will also be a key highlight of the event, offering free basic health screenings such as blood pressure checks, body mass index (BMI) assessments, handgrip strength tests, and bone density screenings. CCACC Health Center will have an informational booth on site, providing practical health resources and consultations to attendees.
In addition, The Kids' Corner will feature face painting, coloring activities, Japanese origami, and a variety of fun games, giving children the chance to explore different cultures through interactive play. Attendees can also enjoy a wide selection of international cuisine, including Chinese dishes, delicate pastries, Thai specialties, and South Asian flavors, offering a true cross-cultural culinary experience. A raffle with exciting prizes will be held throughout the event, adding an extra layer of fun and anticipation.
Community members and families are warmly invited to join this celebration of culture, art, and health, and to enjoy a joyful and memorable day together.
