Coal Train Hits Car in Gaithersburg
One person was sent to an area hospital after their car was hit by a CSX coal train Sunday.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — One person was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after their car was hit by a CSX train in Gaithersburg, authorities said.
The accident happened about 10:30 a.m. at the railroad crossing at Oakmont Avenue and Railroad Street, according to Pete Piringer, spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.

Police are investigating the collision.

The motorist was not seriously injured, Piringer said.
The freight train was carrying coal.
