Fall Art Classes and Labor Day Weekend Exhibits

Artist and art instructor Vian Borchert's upcoming Fall Art classes, and Labor Day Weekend art exhibitions where her artwork will be on display at the Yellow Barn Gallery and Spanish Ballroom of Glen Echo Park, MD.

Rapidly Summer comes to an end and Fall is just around the corner which means it is time to activate the arts within you. Fall is a great time to start on a creative exploration journey by taking an art class. Taking an art class is a fantastic way to exercise your artistic senses, and be engaged in producing artwork that help expand ones cognitive and the right side of the brain. In simple words, art is very good not only for your health but for one's soul and well being as well. So, taking up art is the perfect prescription for a healthier you. Thus, an art class in Drawing, Watercolor and Acrylic painting will help nurture and further the creative growth.

For the Fall and starting in September, I will be teaching at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn morning and evening classes in Drawing, Acrylic and Watercolor Painting.

People from all levels of experience are welcomed! Classes are taught for adults and teens ages 14 and up.

A brief introduction to each medium:

Drawing: I usually like it if a person who is an absolute beginner and a newcomer to the art world to start off by taking one of my drawing classes. Drawing is like the ABC for reading. So, one needs to draw well if one chooses to stick with and move forward within the world of Fine Art. I also have returning students who keep coming back especially to the Drawing classes due to the love they have developed to the ambiance of the class, the education they have received, and also to the love of the dry mediums such as Charcoal, Colored pencils and Conte Crayons. In fact, drawing is one of my favorite mediums. I draw almost on daily basis. Drawing is a great way to relax and create a work of art in a short period of time.

Acrylic Painting medium is water soluble which makes for easy cleanup and an easier paint process. A lot of students love Acrylic due to all the special effects they can use with the Acrylic medium such as the use of sponges, metal knives and other tools and technique to build up paint texture and create interesting patterns. A wonderful and a very forgiving medium by which one can make numerous mistakes that all can be fixed. Easy and fun to use.

Watercolor is the right medium to start with if one wants to explore the world of painting especially for beginners. It is a great medium that is rather easy to handle and master in no time. A great medium to cover and to get to know for every avid art student and budding artist.

In addition to teaching art classes at the Arts Barn, I also will be teaching a Watercolor class on Monday mornings at the Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo Park, MD.
