Foot Locker Armed Robbery Surveillance Video Of Suspect Released
Police released surveillance video of a man who walked out of a Gaithersburg Foot Locker wearing stolen shoes after threatening a worker.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — Surveillance video that investigators said shows the suspect in an armed robbery at a Foot Locker store in Gaithersburg was released Thursday by Montgomery County Police.
The robbery happened about 12:30 pm. Friday in the 8600 block of Colesville Road. (See the surveillance video at the bottom of this story.)
A man asked to try on a pair of sneakers, said he wanted to buy them, and went to the counter. Police said the shopper appeared to attempt to use his phone to pay with a mobile app and then took cash out of his pocket.

The man then grabbed a pair of scissors on the counter, walked behind the counter and demanded the employee get out of his way. The man took the sneakers from the clerk, took off his shoes and put on the new shoes and tried to leave.
Police said the store manager confronted the suspect, who threatened her with the scissors and fled.

The suspect is 25 to 30 years old; about 6-feet-tall with a thin build. Authorities said he was wearing a light-colored North Face hoodie, light-colored skinny jeans with paint stains and had braided locs.
