Free Lunch Fridays For Furloughed Feds Offered In Gaithersburg
Asbury Methodist Village, a retirement community in Gaithersburg, is feeding furloughed workers every Friday until the government reopens.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A retirement community in Gaithersburg is chipping in to help furloughed federal workers during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Asbury Methodist Village joins a slew of area businesses and nonprofits that are giving away free food, offering discounted specials, and rolling out assistance programs to affected residents.
Starting Friday, Jan. 25, furloughed federal workers can come to Asbury Methodist Village for Free Lunch Friday. The buffet will be available every Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., until the government reopens.
Interested in getting your grub on? Make sure you present a valid federal government ID at Asbury's gatehouse located at Lost Knife Road and Odendhal Avenue.

"This is in line with our mission to do all the good we can," said Rob Liebreich, executive director of Asbury Methodist Village. "We are pleased to be able to help those who are affected by the shutdown, which, unfortunately, includes many family members of the associates and residents who live and work at our campus."
Asbury Methodist Village is a continuing care retirement community that houses approximately 1,400 residents on its 137-acre campus. It is located at 201 Russell Ave. in Gaithersburg, Md.
