Gaithersburg Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested At Lakeforest Mall
A man was arrested Jan. 19 at Lakeforest Mall on armed robbery charges tied to a Bank of America holdup in Gaithersburg, police said.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A man was arrested at Lakeforest Mall on armed robbery charges tied to a Bank of America holdup in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County Police said.
Detectives arrested and charged Jason Rollins, 37, of an unknown address, with the bank robbery that occurred on Jan. 17 at the Bank of America in the 400 block of North Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg, according to a news release.
On Jan. 18, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Rollins, charging him with first-degree assault and armed robbery related charges.

Police said the next day, Rollins was apprehended at Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg and then taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.

With many of its storefronts vacant, the mall will close at the end of March, 45 years after it opened its doors, WTOP reported. The announcement was made at a recent Gaithersburg City Council meeting.

Earlier this month, Macy's — the only remaining anchor store after the closure of Lord & Taylor, JCPenney and Sears — announced it would close its Lakeforest location.
The mall will likely be demolished by 2024, Bethesda Magazine reported.
