[UPDATES]: Gaithersburg To Lift Snow Emergency Tuesday Night

All Gaithersburg offices are closed Tuesday and recycling is delayed a day because of the winter storm.

(Updated at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday): GAITHERSBURG, MD — As a result of changing and severe weather conditions, the City of Gaithersburg will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, the city said in a news release. A snow emergency remains in effect. All facilities are closed and events and activities are cancelled. Essential employees should report as scheduled.


UPDATE 4:02 p.m.

The City of Gaithersburg will lift its snow emergency as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, city officials announced. The emergency has been in effect since 7 p.m. on March 13, allowing snow removal crews maximum access to clear the City's more than 90 miles of streets.

Recycling will not be collected on Tuesday. For those whose regular recycling day is Tuesday, your recycling will be collected on Saturday, March 18. Recycling service is anticipated to resume on Wednesday. Place carts and bins curbside and not in alleys, which may be difficult for trucks to navigate.

Residents and commercial property owners are reminded to clear all sidewalks abutting their property. Please help everyone stay safe by shoveling sidewalks.
