Gaithersburg Coach Accused Of Sexually Abusing Child: Police
Damon Junior Cruz, 32, was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor. Police are urging possible other victims to come forward.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Gaithersburg man is accused of sexually abusing a minor over several years while he working as the victim's sports coach, according to police.
Damon Junior Cruz, 32, was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor and displaying obscene material to a minor, Montgomery County police said in a news release.
Police started an investigation into Cruz last month after receiving a sexual abuse report. According to police, the assaults occurred between November 2021 and February 2024 when Cruz was the victim’s hitting and pitching coach.

Cruz was arrested on May 9 and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was released on bond.
Police said Cruz may have abused other children and urged victims to come forward. Anyone who may have been a victim should call SVID at 240-773-5400 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 866-411-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
