GAITHERSBURG, MD — Halloween is around the corner, which means it's time to get serious about your Halloween plans. But don't fret: there are plenty of fun and spooky events happening in Gaithersburg to help you get into the Halloween spirit.

Here's what's in store:

Happy Hour & Movie Night: "Hocus Pocus" (Oct. 19)

  • The Sanderson sisters are coming out of retirement; and no, Max Dennison, this isn't a bunch of hocus pocus. Disney's iconic 1993 film "Hocus Pocus" is playing at Casey Community Center at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $2; and children must be accompanied by an adult. Happy Hour starts at 6 p.m. for those of you old enough to drink. Come in costume to win a prize. Location: 810 S. Frederick Ave.

Tasty Books: Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins (Oct. 26)

  • Embark on a Halloween adventure with Pete the Cat and five little pumpkins at Casey Community Center. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and is recommended for ages 2 to 8. Enjoy creative crafting and make-your-own-snacks. Admission is $5 per person. Click here to register. Stick around for the Halloween Boo Bash, which begins at noon and is free of charge.   • Attention ghouls and goblins: come in costume for the Halloween Boo Bash on Oct. 26. The fun starts at noon and features trick or treating fun, crafts, a costume parade, and a Monster Mash dance party. Admission is free for those who attend the Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins event. For everyone else, admission is $2. Click here to register. Location: 810 S. Frederick Ave.

Floating Pumpkin Patch (Oct. 26)

  • Pumpkin picking with a twist! Children ages 2 to 12 can pick a pumpkin from the pool and snap a picture with Lifeguard Lily at Gaithersburg Aquatic Center on Oct. 26. Make sure you arrive 10 minutes prior to your event. Admission is $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Click here to register. Location: 2 Teachers Way.

    • Ages 2 to 4: 2:00 - 2:10 p.m.
    • Ages 5 to 7: 2:15 - 2:25 p.m.

Murder at the Mansion: Deadline (Oct. 25-27)

  • It's a classic case of "whodunit." Stop by Kentlands Mansion and solve a murder mystery riddled with twists, turns, and a buffet of scandalous sweet treats. The event is best suited for those 15 and older. Dress in Victorian or Steampunk attire for a chance to win a prize. Admission is $35 per person and $60 per couple. Click here to purchase tickets. Murder at the Mansion: Deadline starts at 8 p.m. on Oct. 25 and 26, and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 27. Location: 320 Kent Square Rd.

Trick or Treat at the Museum (Oct. 26 and 31)

Come in costume for a chance to win a special prize. Then make a Halloween craft. Admission is free. Trick or Treat at the Museum is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Location: 9 South Summit Ave.
