Gaithersburg Woman Spells 'Winner' in Lottery Crossword Game

GAITHERSBURG, MD — An avid crossword puzzle player used her skills to win $30,000 in the Bonus Crossword scratch-off recently.

The Montgomery County woman had purchased three Maryland Lottery scratch-offs at Quick Convenient Mart in Gaithersburg and took them home to play. The 28-year-old wanted to stick to her routine for playing the Lottery’s crossword scratch-offs.

“I always keep a piece of paper nearby and write down the words as I complete them,” the Gaithersburg resident told Maryland Lottery officials. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw how many words I completed this time.”

To win the $30,000 top prize, a player must complete 10 words on the ticket. The crossword and bingo scratch-off fan plans to pay bills with her prize and put the rest of the money in the bank.

Quick Convenient Mart at 8441 A Snouffer School Road will receive a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket in the game.
