Jimmy Fallon Salutes Gaithersburg School on TV for 'Egging On' Pupils

The school's leaders break a few eggs in the video as it sets a fund-raising record in Read-A-Thon.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Read-A-Thon at Fields Road Elementary School made it onto national television last week, as late-night comedian Jimmy Fallon praised the local school for its "Egg Roulette" video. Fallon, the host of NBC's "The Tonight Show," played a clip from the video on Friday night's show. It shows the school's leaders cracking eggs on their heads, the climax of the fund-raising drive.

The Read-A-Thon raised more than $14,000 for the school, setting a new record, according to the school's PTA. And on Friday night's show, Fallon announced that Fields Road Elementary will receive another $13,000, a matching donation from Reddi-wip.

In the video, Principal Erica Williams and Assistant Principal Kristi Ricca break eggs on their heads before an assembly of schoolchildren.

She also thanked Fallon and Redi-wip for its donation. "We are so Eggcited!" she said.
