Man Tries To Steal Jewelry From Macy's, Public Asked To ID Him: Montgomery Co. Police
Police say a man tried to steal a tray of jewelry from the Macy's at Lakeforest Mall. They are asking the public to help identify the man.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating an attempted commercial robbery that happened Saturday at the Macy’s store in the 700 block of Russell Ave. at Lakeforest Mall.
Detectives have released surveillance photos of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
At approximately 11:04 a.m., officers responded to the Macy's store for the report of an attempted robbery that had just occurred. An investigation by detectives has determined that the suspect entered the store and asked to see some jewelry. When the employee removed a tray of jewelry from a cabinet, the suspect attempted to steal it from the employee, but he was unsuccessful, according to a police report.

The suspect then hit the employee in the face and attempted to steal another tray of jewelry. The suspect ran out of the store and fled the scene without any property in his possession.
The adult female victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a man with a beard, large build, in his 40s, approximately 6' tall, wearing black glasses, silver necklace, black baseball hat, white/black/green/gray polo shirt, blue jeans and multicolor sneakers.
