Home values rose 6.3% in January as the number of homes on the market climbed over 11% year-over-year. Out of the hundreds of metro areas surveyed by Zillow, an incredible 82% saw increases in home inventory. With a hearty inventory and rising home values, there’s no doubt that this is a buyer’s market.
Zillow Chief Economist, Stan Humphries, agrees, stating that “home shoppers should expect to have more buying power this spring as more inventory comes onto the market and home prices start to level off.” Humphries also notes that a “more balanced market is another step on the road back to normal and will help offset the impact of rising mortgage rates.” With these promising predictions, we can’t wait to see what the future of the housing market holds!
