No Foul Play Suspected in Missing NIH Worker's Death

The body of Martin Rogers of Gaitherburg, missing since Aug. 21, was found Thursday in Allegany County.

A Gaithersburg man who worked at the National Institutes of Health and had been reported missing by his family has been found dead.

Martin John Rogers, 54, of the 12900 block of Riffle Ford Court in Gaithersburg was last seen on Aug. 21, say Montgomery County Police.

Rogers left home and headed to work at the National Institutes of Health. “This is totally atypical,” his wife, Kelley Rogers, said earlier this week, according to WTOP.

Police had said that there had been several possible sightings of him.

Maryland State Police troopers were called Thursday afternoon to the area of MV Smith Road, south of Interstate 68 in Allegany County. Passers-by had located what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle and when troopers arrived they found a body nearby believed to be Rogers. The vehicle located in the area belongs to him.

No foul play is suspected in this death.

The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for confirmation of identity.
