Officer Noah Leotta Memorial Blood Drive Set

The Montgomery County Police Department will hold a blood drive May 31 in honor of fallen officer Noah Leotta.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A memorial blood drive in honor of Montgomery County Police Officer Noah Leotta, who died after he was hit by a drunk driver, will be held Wednesday, May 31.

Leotta died Dec. 10, 2015, a week after he was hit by a car while taking part in a holiday drunk-driving task force. Luis Gustavo Reluzco of Olney was arrested after the accident on a night when he drank heavily at the Hooters restaurant in Rockville, which has since closed.

Reluzco pleaded guilty to manslaughter by motor vehicle in Leotta’s death and was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison for manslaughter. Reluzco had been arrested twice before for drunk driving and has a previous conviction for drug possession.

Walk-in donors will be accepted but may have a longer wait time.
