Public Hearings Set for Pepco Rate Increase

Public hearings will be held in May in Rockville and College Park to comment on Pepco's request to increase electric rates.

Two public hearings have been scheduled to let consumers comments on Pepco’s request to increase its electricity rates, according to a news release.

The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold the hearings to receive public comments in connection with Potomac Electric Power Company's (Pepco) application for a rate increase.

On Dec. 5, 2013, Pepco filed an application with the PSC for a rate increase, alleging that its revenue growth has not kept pace with the growth in its operating costs. Pepco’s request follows an increase approved by the PSC effective July 12, 2013, as well as a new grid resiliency charge to accelerate investment in infrastructure improvements such as priority feeders and tree trimming.
