Woman Hit, Killed By Truck In Gaithersburg: Police

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A woman crossing Woodfield Road in Gaithersburg Thursday was hit by a pickup truck and killed, police say. The victim's name has not been released, Montgomery County Police say, pending the notification of relatives.

The collision happened about 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Woodfield Road and Emory Grove Road. Investigators say the woman was walking west on Emory Grove Road and crossing the northbound lanes of Woodfield Road when she was struck by a 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck. After the collision, the driver of the Sierra remained at the scene.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where she died from her injuries. The driver of the Sierra was not hurt.
