Into the Woods Jr.' Comes to Arts Barn October 20 – 29

GAITHERSBURG, MD - From the City of Gaithersburg: In partnership with Kensington Arts Theatre (KAT) Second Stage, Arts on the Green presents Into the Woods JR., a young performer’s edition of Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s groundbreaking musical fairytale. The show runs October 20 through 29, 2017, with performances on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Arts Barn is located at 311 Kent Square Road. Admission is $15, $12 for ages 14 and under. This show is recommended for ages 7 and older.

Be careful what you wish for as Sondheim and Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. This Broadway Junior version runs 60 minutes and features KAT Second Stage youth performers.

This year marks the 15th theater season at the Arts Barn. In May 2002, the Arts Barn opened to the public with its first stage performance, a one-woman comedy titled A Fresh of Breath Air written by and starring Dale Stein. Since then, more than 180 theater productions ranging from comedy to drama to musicals have graced the Arts Barn stage. Join us as we celebrate this milestone anniversary with events and exhibits throughout the year.
