2018-19 School Year Starts With Smiles

Barnesville welcomed students back to Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences for the 2018-19 school year, which marks our 50th anniversary.

Head of School Susanne Johnson rolled out the red carpet to welcome students back to Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences for the 2018-19 school year. Smiles were on full display for first-day photos that can be viewed on Facebook and in the main hallway.

Second graders stopped in the hall to see photos of themselves and friends. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Don helped them learn names of new students.

The Barnesville School first opened its doors in April 1969, so this school year marks our 50th anniversary. Each student received a commemorative t-shirt, and the first of several celebrations is planned for Homecoming on September 28.
Our community is welcoming 38 new students as well as new faculty and staff. Students will benefit from renovations to our art room, new music instruments, and a planned review of our science curriculum.

Fenley’s mom shared his reaction to the new school year:"Put it this way, Mom, if you could spend a day in my classes, you would be begging to go back to 5th grade!"

Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences is an independent private school in Montgomery County, Maryland offering innovative preschool through 8th grade programs. Cross-curricular teaching encourages students to explore how subjects relate to one another, helping them to make connections that spark inquiry and deepen understanding.
