Accused Serial Rapist Arrested In Germantown
The suspect is accused of committing four first-degree rapes in the Gaithersburg and Germantown areas between 2007 and 2011.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Montgomery County Police Department's Major Crimes Division on Thursday arrested a 39-year-old man believed to be behind four rapes in the Germantown and Gaithersburg area between 2007 and 2011.
Marlon Michael Alexander was arrested at the Dairymaid Drive grocery store in Germantown on a warrant for the assaults, police said. He was also charged with three counts of first-degree burglary, as police allege the suspect broke into victims' homes before assaulting them.
Police described the four incidents in which Alexander has been charged in a Friday press release. They are as follows:

- On August 11, 2007, at approximately 1:00 a..m., a man gained entry into a 25-year-old woman’s home in the 18200 block of Lost Knife Circle in Gaithersburg. Her attacker threatened that he would shoot her if she did not perform a sexual act. A struggle ensued, and the suspect fled from the home. The suspect’s DNA was recovered in this case.
- On June 19, 2010, at approximately 3:20 a.m., a man entered a 68-year-old woman’s home in the 20300 block of Beaconfield Terrace in Germantown. He held an unknown weapon to the victim’s head and raped her. The suspect’s DNA evidence was recovered in this case.
- On August 21, 2010, at approximately 4:15 a.m., a man forced entry into the 86-year-old woman’s home (Churchill Senior Living Center) in the 21000 block of Father Hurley Boulevard in Germantown. He was armed with a pair of scissors as he raped the victim. The suspect struck the victim with his hands multiple times before he fled. The suspect’s DNA recovered in this case was matched to the same suspect responsible for the August 11, 2007, and June 19, 2010 assaults.
- On January 5, 2011, at approximately 12:45 a.m., the victim of the June 19, 2010, rape was victimized again in her home in the 20300 block of Beaconfield Terrace. The suspect’s DNA left at the scene matched the DNA left at the three other crime scenes.
Detectives recently identified Alexander as a suspect in all four rapes and went on to collect a sample of his DNA via a search and seizure warrant. On Thursday, the DNA was matched with the samples recovered at the scenes of the assaults.

Alexander was arrested later that day on a Montgomery County arrest warrant. He was taken to the central processing unit, where he was held without bail. He is slated to appear in Rockville District Court Monday for a bail review hearing.

Investigators continue to examine similar unsolved rapes that have occurred in the county as they claim the suspect could be responsible for other assaults.
