Alwin Chen Agrees To Guilty Plea For Bringing Gun To School

A Germantown honor roll student agreed to plead guilty to bringing a loaded gun to Clarksburg High School.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD β€” A Germantown teenager accused of bringing a loaded handgun to Clarksburg High School one day after the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, agreed to plead guilty, according to reports.

Alwin Chen, 18, was arrested Feb. 5 for having a loaded, 9mm handgun and a knife on him at the school, police said.

Chen was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a person under 21 years old and possession of a firearm on school property.

AP reports Chen agreed to plead guilty to carrying a handgun on public school property.

A hearing is scheduled for April 24, and Chen faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

Chen’s lawyer said β€œhysteria” originally surrounded the case and he’s looking forward to an β€œappropriate” resolution, AP says.
