GERMANTOWN, MD — A vehicle fire that broke out Monday on Interstate 270 prompted serious traffic delays for afternoon commuters.
The fire was reported before 3 p.m. near the Germantown Road exit on the southbound I-270 lanes.
Officials did not say what caused the fire but did say the blaze was extinguished by first responders.
Clean-up efforts temporarily shuttered traffic in the immediate area, with authorities also closing off the entrance ramp from westbound Germantown Road to the southbound I-270 lanes.
The Maryland State Police were leading the investigation into the incident.
