Today's riddle: What do you call a one-legged Big Foot? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Thousands Impacted By MoCo Power Outage After Transformer Fire (patch.com) — A weekend transformer fire in Germantown's Milestone community knocked out electricity for thousands of residents and darkened several traffic signals for hours. Power started coming back around 4 p.m., while crews continued working at the site into Sunday night as officials investigated the cause.
2. New MARC train connects county to Baltimore (mymcmedia.org) — Germantown riders now have a one-seat weekday MARC trip to Baltimore, with a morning train leaving Germantown at 6:31 a.m. and an evening return at 6:25 p.m. The new through-service skips Union Station, cuts travel times significantly, and comes with temporary fare discounts from Montgomery County stations to College Park, Laurel, and Camden Station.
3. Corrected county voter guides head to mail for 11 precincts (mymcmedia.org) — If you vote in Germantown, your county voter guide may have listed the wrong polling place or party, and corrected versions are now being mailed for several local precincts, including Kingsview, Waters Landing, Lake Seneca, MLK Jr., and Northwest schools. Residents are urged to double-check their polling place using the state lookup tool or text service, since the new guides will look identical to the originals.
4. $50,000 Winning Lottery Ticket Purchased at Germantown Wegmans (mocoshow.com) — A shopper who bought a Bonus Match 5 ticket at the Wegmans on Seneca Meadows Parkway in Germantown just won a $50,000 Maryland Lottery prize. The retired Clarksburg resident matched all five numbers in the September 7 drawing, and Wegmans will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
