New MARC train connects county to Baltimore (mymcmedia.org) — Germantown commuters now have a direct weekday MARC train to Baltimore, with morning departures at 6:31 a.m. and evening arrivals at 6:25 p.m. The new through-service skips Union Station, cuts some trips by up to an hour, and comes with discounted fares from Montgomery County stations to College Park, Laurel, and Camden Station.
2. Montgomery County Accepting Nominations for Human Rights Hall of Fame (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County is seeking nominations for its Human Rights Hall of Fame, with an induction ceremony set for Sunday, November 8 at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown. Residents can nominate people who have advanced civil and human rights locally, with submissions accepted through Friday, October 23 via the county's Office of Human Rights website.
3. Clarksburg Woman Checks Lottery Ticket Six Times Before Believing $50K Win (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A retired Montgomery County woman won $50,000 on a Bonus Match 5 ticket bought at the Wegmans on Seneca Meadows Parkway in Germantown. Robberies, Burglaries, Auto Theft and Weapons Offense Included in September 28th Daily Summary (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County Police reported an auto theft in the 19500 block of Amaranth Drive in the 5th District, which includes Germantown, as part of Monday's call summary. The report also details robberies, burglaries, and a weapons offense in other county districts, offering a snapshot of recent public safety concerns.
