GERMANTOWN, MD — A 40-year-old Germantown man was ordered to serve 25 years in prison Wednesday in connection with a deadly 2025 shooting.
Michael Aaron Lynn, according to a county release, was sentenced to 60 years in prison, with all but 25 years suspended. He will be required to serve five years of supervised probation following his release.
The latest comes after Lynn pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in a violent crime in July.
The case is tied to the fatal Nov. 8, 2025, shooting of 34-year-old Kendall Butler, Jr., who had arrived at the 12200 block of Middlebrook Road shortly after 11 p.m.
Investigators found that Butler was shot three times near the Germantown Square Urban Park by Lynn after the two had a dispute, the release said.
Butler was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders and Lynn was arrested after a K9 unit had arrived at the scene. Lynn had been tracked down "within several hundred yards of the park."
