Police say recent shoplifting prevention efforts in Montgomery County helped them charge 15 people with theft-related offenses.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Police say recent shoplifting prevention efforts in Montgomery County helped them charge 15 people with theft-related offenses.

On Thursday, Nov. 15, Montgomery County and Maryland National Capital Park police teamed up with local retailers to catch shoplifters. Authorities focused on catching offenders in stores at Germantown Commons, Milestone Center, and in the Central Business District area. Police said they also took action at stores in Damascus.

The police department said officers in plain clothes walked around these stores, looking for shoplifters. Meanwhile, other officers monitored the security cameras. They said their efforts have led to dozens of arrests and charges.
