Critical Power Failure: Things You Don't Tell Your Clients
Economic no-nos for people that think they're working.

If you work with customers or clients, please do not say the following things, or anything similar to them.
- "I'm sorry, I was scratching myself."
- "We're all friends here. You can handle this yourself."
- "Your daughter is hot."
- "We don't make the greatest product in the world."
- "I blame the Democrats/Republicans."
- "With that attitude, you can buy me lunch."
- "Dumbest idea i'veever heard. Did you go to school for that?"
- "I know I left it out somewhere. I doubt we threw it away."
- "You're late? You suck."
- "I know a guy who knows some people."
You may think i'm kidding. You may be thinking that no one does this. BUT IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. Joe the college student comes in after school and starts running register. He scratches himself, then tells a customer!
Your director of operations, Sally, is tired because she was up late last night. During a meeting with a client, she tells them they can handle their own thing. Who gets to clean up the mess if your client gets offended?

As I have been consistently told by the older generations, it used to be that you came in every day to work. Your personal life was set aside as you looked to make money to support the people that depended on you. But today that culture has changed, drastically. The whole, "I don't feel well" never really worked for me when I had an employee making excuses. Them talking to me wasn't making me feel well, but it was time to push on and ignore that while we continued on.
What do we want to do with an economy that doesn't quite have it all together? After the Great Depression, we were at war, but during that time, the men and women that stayed in the country brought our economy up. They took jobs and did as much work as the soldiers overseas, building, manufacturing, serving. The negative repercussions were negated then from hard working, patriotic citizens and children who pitched in to help.

When we mis-treat our customers and clients, it's like a powerfailure. Everything shuts down, no one is able to do anything. You're losing daylight, power, money, and growth. So do tell me why we should encourage bad practices in society? You feel better if you're successful, as a business leader you're happy because you're making money and your employees are working. As an employee you're happy because your boss is happy with you and you're making money. I'm not saying to bend over backwards for your customer. But don't push them away either. We can't seem to reach that equilibrium for some reason.
Find it, and there will be growth in the economy. Far better to try and fail than to not make an attempt.
