Doubt, A Parable

Friday, August 12, our second production, Doubt, A Parable, will open on BlackRock's mainstage at 7:30 pm.  Two other performances will follow, on Saturday, August 13, also at 7:30 pm, and on Sunday, August 14, at 2 p.m.

In John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play, which takes place at a Catholic church and school in the Bronx in 1964, a relatively new parish priest, Father Flynn, is accused of "improper relations" with the lone black boy by the school's principal, Sister Aloysius, who quickly takes matters into her own hands to have him removed.

Cast of four includes Board member Bill Craley as Father Flynn, Joanna Chilcoat, the current Seneca Valley High School Drama Director, as Sister Aloysius, Cate Lightburn, Matti Dickenson's friend from High Point University, as Sister James, the novice eighth grade teacher who gets pulled into the middle of this conflict, and Joyce Wright, newcomer to Upcounty Theatre through acting classes at BlackRock, as Mrs. Muller, the boy's mother.

Groups of 15 or more can purchase $8 tickets by calling 301-972-2832. Tickets will also be sold at the door for all performances, beginning one hour before curtain, or you can visit: (www.upcountytheatre.org).
