Lula Washington Dance Theatre

A thrilling BlackRock first! Lula Washington’s work mixes athleticism, performance art, acting, jazz, ballet and street dance styles to explore African-American culture, history and contemporary themes.  The two BlackRock performances will feature different programs.  Dances may include:  “Ode to the Sixties” (Choreographer: Lula Washington); “Reign” ( Rennie Harris);  “Angelitos Negros” (Donald McKayle), “www.connections.2010” (Lula Washington);  “Love is…” (by Christopher Huggins);  “The Healers” (Lula Washington).  Cool fact:  Lula choreographed James Cameron’s blockbuster,  Avatar.
