T-Shirt Design Contest for All Students in Grades K-12 Sponsored by Washington Revels

Students are invited to send in a drawing for a t-shirt design contest sponsored by Washington Revels.  The winning design will go on the official SunFest 2011 t-shirt for the 2nd Annual Washington Revels SunFest.

SunFest is a vibrant, performing arts festival! This free-to-the-public festival will be held June 19 in Downtown Silver Spring to showcase a wide variety of traditional performing arts, with an emphasis on sun and summer celebrations from around the world.  2010 featured Bolivia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Nepal, Peru, South Africa, United States, and West Africa!

The winning design will be printed on official SunFest 2011 t-shirts. The winning artist will also receive a $100 cash prize, a SunFest t-shirt, and special recognition on stage at SunFest!

There will also be a prize package presented to the winner of each of the following grade categories:  K-2; 3-5; 6-8; 9-12.  Prizes for each category will consist of a $15 iTunes Card, a SunFest t-shirt, and on-stage recognition.  In addition, ALL entries will be displayed at SunFest 2011!

Contest Instructions
We are looking for designs that illustrate SunFest and include creativity, artistic sense, and overall appeal.  The design should include the phrase SunFest 2011 and may use up to four colors

• All drawings must be received by Friday, April 18, 2011.
• Drawings must be in color (up to 4 colors) on 8 ½ X 11 inch white paper.
• The following information must be attached to the drawing on a separate piece of paper:

o   Artist’s name

o   Address

o   Grade

o   School

o   Phone number

o   Email (please also submit parent or guardian’s email) 

If a drawing does not include this information, it will not be considered in the contest judging.

Judging will take place in April, and the winners will be notified on May 2.

Note:  All designs become the property of Washington Revels and will not be returned.  Winners will be presented prizes at SunFest on June 19th, but need not be present to win.
