Free Outdoor Movie To Celebrate Start Of The School Year In Montgomery County
On Sept. 3, families can attend an outdoor showing of the movie Matilda as a way to celebrate the conclusion of the first week of school.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Celebrate the conclusion of the first week of the new school year with a family outing to see the 1996 comedy “Matilda." The outdoor screening will be held at the Gaithersburg City Hall Concert Pavilion, 31 S. Summit Avenue in Olde Towne, on Sept. 3. The 95-minute movie starts at dusk, which will be at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Admission is free and lawn chairs/blankets and movie snacks are welcome.
This classic movie centers on child prodigy Matilda Wormwood, who develops psychokinetic abilities and uses them to deal with both her disreputable family and Miss Trunchbull, the ruthless, oppressive and tyrannical principal of Crunchem Hall Elementary School, according to a description about the movie provided by city officials.
