Montgomery College Crunch Time
This week at Montgomery College Germantown campus: prom dress donations, a representative of The Universities at Shady Grove, and a lecture by Joseph Giove on carbon capture and storage.
It’s crunch time! Welcome to another Montgomery College Crunch Time for Germantown campus. Spring is in the air, and the campus is busy with classes and events. Coming up this week, Germantown campus will be hosting a prom dress donation, a representative of The Universities at Shady Grove, and a seminar on carbon sequestration and climate change. So when you’ve got some free time on campus this week, check out the art exhibit, get some information about furthering your education or carbon sequestration.
Do you have an old prom dress in good condition that could be worn by someone instead of going out of style on a hanger in your closet? The Germantown campus Women’s Studies department, Girl Effect, International and Student Service clubs are collaborating on “Once Upon a Prom,” a charity drive that will be collecting prom dresses and accessories for underprivileged high school girls.
The program will be accepting prom dresses in any size and color, shoes, accessories, restaurant gift cards and cosmetic gift sets until March 1. If you would like to make a contribution, bring your items to the Student Life Office.

The lecture will explore carbon sequestration technology and information surrounding the process of removing carbon from our atmosphere and storing it below ground. Admission is free and the lecture will be held in Globe Hall. If you’re interested in making a career of helping to right the climate crisis, this lecture will have valuable information for you.
